Wireless communication is expanding the scope of industrial automation. The steute business division Controltec has decades of experience in this field and a wide range of industry-compatible wireless switches and sensors to show for it. At the Hannover Messe, or more precisely at the joint VDMA booth "5G & Industrial Wireless Arena" in Hall 14, steute Controltec will be presenting current application examples and products from its portfolio, as well as informing visitors about potential applications for its sWave wireless technology.
The wireless switches and sensors which steute will be showing in Hannover have been developed especially for industrial applications – including the underlying wireless system, a crucial aspect. Industrial applications involve radiation and interference from other wireless signals, and the requirements regarding availability and transmission speed are often very high. In addition, expectations regarding mechanical properties and lifetime demand a very robust construction which is suitable for industrial ambient conditions.
Deploying its electromechanical and non-contact "Industrial Wireless" switches and sensors, steute provides solutions for users with all manner of problematic applications in different branches of industry. The product range includes multiple series of electromechanical position switches, as well as foot switches, inductive sensors and optical sensors. All series are easy to install and can be operated failure-free within industrial environments.
One typical example is the transmission of signals between rotating robot grippers and their corresponding controls via a wireless position switch or wireless sensor. Users can eliminate slip rings and trailing cable installations which are susceptible to wear and tear. Power is supplied by a long-life battery. The steute switching solutions developed for wireless point-to-point communication in industrial plants are also well established in heavy-duty applications, such as the conveying of bulk goods.
