Interview with Ismail Eren Kahraman

Why did you opt for a traineeship at steute?

To be honest, I had never heard of steute before. A good friend of mine told me where traineeships were available. In my interview, it was immediately clear how friendly everyone was. I was treated kindly and put at my ease from the start, which made the interview far less daunting. I then had a nice chat with the receptionist, who crossed her fingers for me that I would be accepted. That was when I really knew that the people here cared, and that it would be a good place to work.

Which tasks have you liked best so far?

I liked working at the Reception because I enjoy communicating with other people, both in person and on the telephone. I also spent some extra time there covering for a colleague, and that gave me the chance to get to know many of the steute employees as they came and went, some of them very well.

I also really enjoyed my time in the Sales department because they trusted me to work by myself from a very early stage. For me that was proof that they had confidence in my ability to perform the tasks competently. It took no time at all for me to feel fully accepted as part of the team.

What skills have you been able to acquire during your traineeship?

So far in my traineeship, I have learnt about multiple processes within a company, for example how to make offers and handle orders in the Sales department, how to check order confirmations in the Purchasing department, or how to check bank statements in the Accounts department.

How do your colleagues and supervisors support you during your daily work?

The atmosphere at steute is very good. If I have a question or a problem, I can always ask one of my colleagues or supervisors. And many colleagues come to me of their own accord and ask how I am getting on, or whether I need help with anything. There are even people here I can trust with private concerns, so I never feel alone.

What would you say to somebody who is thinking of applying for a traineeship at steute?

I would say that a traineeship here is interesting and varied because you move through multiple departments, performing different tasks. There is no need to worry that it will be too challenging because the colleagues at steute are always on hand to help and guide you, even in tricky situations.
