Switchgear and sensors for the food processing industry

Ideally suited to extreme conditions
High or low temperatures, humidity, vibrations, dust, risk of explosion: where other switching devices fail to keep up, the switches in our »Extreme« business unit are just getting started. They have been designed from scratch for Extreme application fields such as:
- hazardous (dust)-explosive zones (processing and transportation of powdered materials)
- subzero storage
- temperature-controlled manufacturing processes
- hygiene-compatible production and packaging
- wet areas, e.g. bottling and filling.
Tests under extreme conditions
Our switching devices are comprehensively tested – during the design process for continual optimisation, but also during serial production in order to meet the highest quality standards at all times. Here we provide a small insight into our test laboratories and testing parameters.
Temperature stability
Whether freeze-drying, cooking, pasteurising or homogenising: many food production processes need to be temperature-controlled. We guarantee that our switching devices are always suitable for the temperature range in question – for example by including devices for both very high and very low temperatures in our product range.

Dust impermeability to IP 6X
Suitability for use in dusty environments is an important requirement, not least in combination with dust explosion protection. Our devices undergo standardised endurance tests with special testing dust.
IP X6 and X9 tests for water jets and high-pressure cleaners
When switching devices are used in hygiene-sensitive areas or in the bottling process, they must meet high requirements regarding impermeability. Our Extreme products are tested with powerful water jets and high-pressure cleaners using water heated to +80 °C.

is tested in the salt spray chamber.
Corrosion resistance
In hygiene-sensitive zones – due to the intensive cleaning required – the corrosion resistance of switching devices is also key. Here, too, our products undergo extensive tests – based on experience gained in industries such as shipbuilding and offshore technology.
