Range of application
Ex position switches are used where moving parts of machines and industrial plants have to be positioned, controlled and monitored.
The various application fields, ranging from fine mechanics to heavy-duty machinery, require different materials, electrical capacity and quality criteria regarding construction and design.
Design and mode of operation
Many of the Ex position switches fulfil the requirements of the IEC60947-5-1 standard and can therefore also be used as position switches with safety function. These products are identified by the symbol 
for positive break.
Some Ex position switches fulfil the requirements for standardised switches to DIN EN 50 047. The position switches are available with slow action and can be supplied with a metal roller on request. A large variety of actuators complete the program.
The devices are listed in the order of enclosure dimensions and materials, starting with the smallest and the plastic enclosures.
The Ex position switches presented in this section have the CE marking as per Directive ATEX 94/9/EC from the certified Testing Laboratory EXAM, identification number 0158.
