This standard demands, for example, high requirements for mechanical stability. It requires protection against unintentional actuation and prescribes specific actuating forces. Besides this, certain protection classes – depending on the appropriate application – are determined according to IEC 60529. A mainly redundant design of the switching elements, as well as details concerning the cable and its entry at the foot-operated control device, also belong to the requirements.
